Michele Ronconi's biography

Michele Ronconi

"Youth and Peacebuilding", Tbilisi
September 2020 – September 2021 (12 months)

Michele holds a MA in International Relations and Diplomatic Affairs (University of Bologna) and a BA in International Studies and European Institutions (University of Milan). Throughout his studies, Michele participated in two Erasmus+ programs, at the University of Warsaw and the Metropolitan University of Prague, conducting research in view of his master’s thesis on the evolution of party systems in the Visegrad Four.

Within his last year of studies, Michele completed an internship at the Embassy of Italy in Tbilisi, where he focused on aspects related to political affairs, human rights and security in Georgia.

Upon completion of his studies, Michele moved back to Tbilisi to join the European Solidarity Corps as part of Civil Forum’s volunteering program. At Civil Forum, Michele is actively involved in the organization’s youth work as trainer/facilitator. He also contributes to the implementation of current projects and the drafting of new project proposals.

Irene Sciurpa

“Youth and Peacebuilding”, Tbilisi
September 2020 – September 2021 (12 months)

Born in 1993. After a three-year degree in Philosophy at the University of Perugia, Irene participated in several international experiences in the field of human rights protection. During her master’s degree in International Cooperation and Human Rights Protection (unibo), she spent about two years in Tbilisi, Georgia, where she studied and researched at Tbilisi State University.

In the latest years, she has studied politics and conflicts of the South Caucasus, with a focus on the integration of the ethnic minorities in Georgia, the main subject of her thesis work.

Since September 2020 she has been volunteering at Civil Forum which deals with peace building and post conflict reconstruction.

She has a strong interest in the issues related to post-Soviet politics, which she tries to enrich as much as possible.
In particular, she is following the developments in Transcaucasia, a region that has now been her base for three years.

Chiara Lorenzin

"SPACE - Strengthen Peace and Citizenship Education", Gori
September 2020 - September 2021 (12 months)

Chiara is currently one of our international volunteers in the Civil Forum Organization located in Gori. She is involved in the delivery of workshops that focus on youth development and also an Italian class.

After graduating in Languages and International Relations at Ca’ Foscari University (Italy), she spent 15 months in Australia as an Au pair and the following 3 in Vietnam as an English teacher and a volunteer for the Green Blessing – Ecobrick House, where she could combine her passion for travelling and philanthropy.

Thanks to these experiences and her wide background in working with children and youngsters, she wants to keep expanding her knowledge in the humanitarian field.

Confidence, enthusiasm and reliability are some of the qualities she masters both personally and professionally.

At present, she is enrolled in an online course on International Women’s Health and Human Rights proposed by Stanford University.

Fiona Feller

"Solidarity Action for Inclusion", Gori
September 2020 – September 2021 (12 months)

Fiona is one of the Civil Forum`s volunteers based in Gori. Her responsibilities as a volunteer include facilitating civic education workshops, leading a German class as well as writing new and contributing to the implementation of on-going peacebuilding projects.

Originally, she comes from a small, picturesque town in the middle of Germany. Her Bachelor of International Relations took her to Dresden (Germany) and Kazan (Russia). Apart from university, she has done internships with DRA e.V. (a German NGO supporting civil society in different Eastern European countries, the South Caucasus and Central Asia), the department for humanitarian aid at the German Foreign Office and the United Nations Office for Disarmament Affairs in Vienna. She was also actively involved in several student-led political education projects.

Fiona is passionate about international affairs, peace and conflict studies and civil society initiatives. She is always up for a political discussion and loves hearing people`s stories.

Francesca Zambelli

"SPACE - Strengthen Peace and Citizenship Education", Gori
September 2020 - September 2021 (12 months)

Francesca holds a BSc in Economics (Bocconi University) and is now enrolled in a Master’s Degree in European and International Studies (University of Trento). During her university years she also had the opportunity to study in Wellington (New Zealand) and in St Petersburg (Russia).
In between her university degrees, she did an internship at Latin American Foundation for the Future (LAFF), a charity based in Cusco (Peru) supporting local organizations involved with vulnerable children living in underdeveloped communities and promoting their education and personal development. She is passionate about international development and the post-Soviet space.
She is now writing her master’s thesis on the European Union’s peacebuilding role in Georgia with a focus on the August 2008 Russo-Georgian War and on EU’s involvement with IDPs.
At Civil Forum, Francesca is based in Gori and is involved in the facilitation of workshops on topics such as human rights and youth development and in the delivery of an Italian class.

Beatrice Muroni

"SPACE - Strengthen Peace and Citizenship Education", Gori
January 2020 - January 2021 (12 months)

Beatrice studied political science in Rome for her bachelor’s degree, and spent a semester abroad at the University of British Columbia in Vancouver, Canada.

She then continued her studies with a double degree in international relations, which led her to Brussels for her second year.
Before volunteering in Gori, she completed a few internships, including one with the United Nations Regional Information Centre in Brussels and one with the UN’s International Fund for Agricultural Development in Rome.

She also took part in volunteering activities with the Community of Sant’Egidio and Amnesty International, working on advocacy and human rights. Her interests include peace-building, communication, and climate change.

She thoroughly enjoyed designing and delivering workshops to the youths of Gori, as well as drafting Erasmus+ projects, and would recommend this experience to everyone.
